A common
need that we as RLA’s on First Hunt try address and meet is the rising levels
of tension and stress not only at the end of 2nd Trimester but also
throughout the entire year. I really enjoy leading these programs because I can
relate very strongly to the issues that we face as individuals here at NCSSM
not only from my experiences as a junior last year but also with the difficulties
of senior life. We do guided “meditations” as a hall which invite those who are
interested to all come together to a quiet room with the lights turned down and
some relaxing music playing in the background. We then go through some guided
mediation scripts which address a wide range of issues from stress and
emotional trouble, all the way to physical health, relationships, and building
a better self-image. Also we have relaxation sessions which are basically where
we can have a guided topic or activity which focuses on us just coming together
and enjoying each other’s company as a brotherhood on hall while doing whatever
it is that has been prepared. My personal favorite example of a relaxation
program is the “Jam Session” which is when we bring speakers and a laptop out
on hall and go in a circle picking music to listen to and just sit, relax, and
talk.
First Hunt's official blog. A wonderful way to be involved with everything that First Hunt is doing throughout the year, from Convocation to Commencement.

Swimming!
The Swim Team has been making history lately. We beat Carrboro for the fist time ever last week by 1 point! It was an amazing meet. The team ended their season undefeated except for their one loss to Carrboro the first time we faced them.On Tuesday, we had our conference meet and got second to Carrboro by only 5.5 points! Our next meet is on February 1st, and its regionals. We are going to come with all our strength and show Carrboro who's boss!
Wrestling
Wrestling is still having a great season. They had their Senior night last week and won and then had a good meet with some nice individual wins this past week! Nice job Unis!
Athlete(s) of the Week(s)
Hall Food
Sorry guys for not having that many updates lately! Things have been a little crazy at school with work and swimming, but I'll have more on that later. We had a bunch of different hall foods over the past two weeks because of all the birthdays. Last Wednesday, Chris Lagaly and his family provided smoothies, rice pudding, and cantaloupe bread. If you haven't ever heard of or tried cantaloupe bread, you need to-- it was awesome! Then, on Thursday, we had ice cream and cookies to celebrate Jeff, Mitch, and Stuart's birthdays! On the following Monday, we had cupcakes and some more ice cream to celebrate Matt's birthday! And lastly, to celebrate Jin's birthday, and for regular hall food, we had pizza, cinnamon sticks, and cake on this past Wednesday! Thank you so much to all these guys on hall and their families!
Ice Skating with 1E2E2D!
1st Hunt went on a Brother Hall/ Sister hall trip on Sunday to go Ice Skating!. We had a great time, a few wipe-outs here and there, but a bunch of good memories!

Swimming!
NCSSM Swimming has been doing great. This past week, they had their most difficult meet against Raleigh Charter and Carboro High. Both teams were defeated by Carboro, however the mens team had a final scor of 80-90, a closer margin than ever before. Awesome job swimmers!
Athlete of the Week
The new Athlete of the Week for this week was ALSO Will Milligan. Will is a great guy to have on hall, definitey worth being featured twice in one week! Learn a little about him below.
Hall Food
Hall Food this week was provided by Will Milligan and his family. We had Jimmy Johns, and as they say, it was Freaky Good!. Thank you so much Will!

Happy Birthday Andrew!
Happy Birthday to Andrew Peterson. I hope you had a great one (hopefully you got some new Polo stuff to add to your wardrobe!). You're an awesome guy on hall!
December Birthdays
We had a couple birthdays happen over the winter break- Logan Herrera and Ashwin Monian. Sorry guys that you didn't get to spend it with your 1st Hunt family, it must have been a travesty, but you know, getting to go home is always a positive too! So I hope you all had wonderful, restful birthdays!
Athlete of the Week
The Athlete of the Week is now Mitch Rees-Jones! He's a great guy on hall, and a true First Hunt-er. With the nickname, no malice intended! We all really enjoy Mitch, I'm just having a little fun with your answers!
Hall Food!
Hall Food this week was provided by Vincent Cahill and his family! We had
ice cream, although with faulty refrigeration, it may or may not have turned
into a milkshake. Nevertheless it was still wonderful. Then, we also had baked
ziti and rolls which were very good, after we dealt with more faulty equipment
in Hunt Kitchen! It was a great experience and everyone really enjoyed it all!
Thanks so much Vincent!!
