I hope everyone had a great trimester break. I know you are all coming back well rested and fed, ready to start second trimester. Male Unicorns Place 4th in State

Congratulations to the NCSSM Unicorn Runners! At the State Championship Race in Cary on Saturday, the men's team placed 4th in the State for 1-A schools, and the women's team placed 3rd. Eli Turlington placed 5th on the NCSSM team and 46th in the state with a time of 18:36. The Unicorns had a very strong season, and this is a rewarding finish to a long and difficult year of intensive training. Despite the loss, the runners should be proud of such an important accomplishment. Congratulations to Elliot Cartee, Caleb Dagenhart, Justin Martin, and Eli Turlington for a hard-fought, well-run, fun-filled cross country season!

The Roommate Game

One of our favorite hall programs on 1st Hunt is our very own roommate game. The roommate game is an activity where two roommates are paired together and asked questions about one another. For example, What color is your roommates toothbrush? or What magazine is your roommate most likely to read? The more questions you get right, the more points you get. The team with the most points at the end of the game win a steak dinner, second place gets a large pizza, and last gets a not so good prize of Mike's choosing (They should have bonded a little more ;) ). Our winners this year was room #104, Sam Meeks and Tony Botros. Second place finishers were room #111, Neal Lewis and Jordan Firn. Congrats on bonding with your roommate!!

Cyrano de Bergerac

Last weekend (Oct 23rd - 25th), the NCSSM Drama Board performed the play Cyrano de Bergerac. It is a great tale of a great man with a big nose, who is in love with a beautiful woman, but ultimately is too self-conscious about his appearance to tell her. Two members of 1st Hunt performed in this production. Colin Ringwood played the part of Cyrano, and Jordan Firn played the part of Viscount Valvert. The most exciting part of the play was when Cyrano and Valvert had a swordfight on stage. Both Colin and Jordan did wuite well in thier performance. As a hall, we went to the play on Sunday and then after the play, ate diner as a group in the PFM. Colin and Jordan also performed their swordfight as entertainment for the NCSSM staff at the Staff Appreciation Day Lunch.

1st Hunt Talent Show

As most of you know, 1st Hunt is the hall of wonders, and with this we are also a hall of many talents. We got to show some of those talents last week in the 1st Hunt Talent Show. This is a time for everyone to gather in the lounge and show everyone one what they got. Some of the performances include monologues from our actors Jordan and Colin, songs by Evan, a stunning rendition of Grey Squirrel by Dustin, and group performances by room 103, aka Durant, Nkenge, and Richi. This was a lot of fun, and we plan for many more talent shows in the future. Hopefully we will be able to get a little something out of everyone. But until then everyone take care, and do well on exams this week!!
