Hall Food

Hall Food last night was brought by the Weavers in celebration of Matt's birthday! We had Pizza Hut pizza, pasta, and bread sticks and then some great birthday cake. The food was awesome, the celebration was great, and, as always, we are so grateful to the Weavers for their generosity! Thanks so much!!

Programming Update!

On 1st Hunt, not only do we have great times as a hall, we love to hear about all the awesome things that all the guys on hall are doing. Last night, we had a program called Miniterm Memories where we all gathered to hear about what each of us did over miniterm, what we liked, and how we would have changed things if we could. All the guys really loved hearing about what the others did and we got to interact, ask questions, and just hang out having a great time with everyone. Tonight, we have a "Hot Topics" discussion on the recent case in the news dealing with a girl at UNC Chapel Hill being accused of an honor code violation because of creating a hostile environment for her rapist when she spoke out against the events that had occurred surrounding this awful event. This issue is not very well understood by many, so we on 1st Hunt have decided to delve further and learn and discuss what actions we feel should be taken and what could have been changed. It should be a good one!

Happy Birthday Matt!

1st Hunt would like to send out a big Happy 17th Birthday wish to Matt Weaver! Hope it was great!

Swimming State Champions!

The Mens 1A/2A State Championship Meet was on the 9th. We got up and left for Cary at 6:00 AM. It was an early morning, but the team was really excited for the meet. We swam awesome at prelims and had almost everyone qualify to swim at finals in the evening! We went into the finals session with our heads high and ready for some awesome swims.

Well, in the end, all of our hard work paid off and the Mens swim team won the State title!! The meet was amazing, and we completely rewrote the NCSSM record board, breaking all but two records. Amazing job Unis, and thank you so much to Caoch Newbauer and Coach Shepherd for all of their hard work and dedication!

Swimming- Regional Champions!

The men's swim team, for the first time ever, won the title of regional champions this year! We beat Carrboro out for the top spot by a margin of over 60 points. The girls team got 4th in the region. It was a great night that also ended in our very own, Mike Newbauer, being pushed into the pool! Congrats Unis!!

Athlete of the Week

Hello again. This is Kyle Riker speaking for the weekly announcement of the Athlete of the Week. For this week, it goes to one of the most hardworking guys on hall and my fellow Co-RLA, Burton Burrows. Congrats, Burton. You're a great guy to have on hall!

Poetry Night- By Burton Burrows

On Wednesday the 23rd, 1st hunt gathered in the Annex Lounge for Poetry Night. We took turns reading our favorite poems that we had come across such as "The Eagle" and "Jabberwocky." Then to end the evening we had a group poetry write. Someone wrote 1 line to start the poem then passed it to the next person. Everyone had 30 seconds to write an additional line for the poem. Our efforts ended with a poem about personal accomplishment and another about our high school years. Overall it was a fun and exciting program that we hope to do again.

Hall Food!!

For hall food this past week, we had pizza. But, this was not just any ordinary pizza. We had homemade pizza straight from hunt kitchen with ingredients straight from the garden. Zack Polizzi and his family provided the food and Karl Widney, our resident chef, assisted in the cooking process. We had some amazing different types of pizza, ranging from tomato basil to ham and pineapple. Thanks so much guys!
