Hall Cookout!
We'd like to give a HUGE 1st Hunt shoutout to Jackson Mower and his family for hosting an awesome cookout this weekend! The guys gathered on Sunday afternoon for food and fun. It was a great way to celebrate one of our last weekends here together on campus. Thanks so much, Jackson and family!

Mr. First Hunt
Last Friday the hall came together for one of the most unique events of
the year on hall, the Mr. First Hunt competition. Think of it as a
pageant for the manliest men on campus; contestants had to showcase a
stylish entrance, think wittily for a question and answer session, and
perform a talent. The contestants this year were always classy Trey
Faddis, Luke Fernandez, Jeffrey Phillips, Quinten Stewart, and Seth
Templeton. Each contestant was awarded a title fitting their
performance.
The awards were:
The Michael Newbauer Classy Award - Seth Templeton
The Vitchyr Pong Heartthrob Award - Luke Fernandez
The Michael "Hottest Guy in School" Robinson Award - Jeffery Phillips
The Huston Collins Most Entertaining Award - Trey Faddis
and the Otis Skipper Mr. First Hunt Award went to...
Quiten Stewart.
Their walk-outs were entertaining, their answers were thoughtful, and their talents (ranging from musical performance, to stand-up comedy) were unique. Quite a show was put on by the five contestant for the rest of First Hunt and our sister hall 4th Bryan. They all deserved a huge round of applause.

Hall Food
A big thanks to Trey Faddis and his family for providing the delicious pizza on Wednesday night for hall food! As the year comes to a close we're thankful for all of the parents that have contributed!!
IM Game Victory!
1st Hunt pulled out another very close IM victory this week over 1st Hill. The entire game was back and forth, with 1st Hill jumping out to their only lead of the game at 16-14 with 8 minutes remaining in the 2nd Half. The boys from 1st Hunt managed to lock-down on the defensive end, however, coasting to a 21-18 victory.
We will conclude the IM basketball regular season this Tuesday against 2nd Hill North. Let's get another victory before playoffs!

Hall food this week was provided by Jackson Mower and his family. Thanks so much for the pizza, y'all! It was a great Thursday night.
IM Game
Our latest IM basketball game was a nail-biter against 3rd East. The game went back and forth, but we ultimately emerged victorious 21-19! Vitchyr Pong, Michael Robinson, Luke Fernandez, and Jeshua Ray all made key buckets down the stretch to lead the Fire Lions to victory. Vipul Vachharajani and Aakash Gandhi led a defense that allowed a season low 19 points from the visitors.
We'll keep you posted the rest of the season. Playoffs, here we come!

Prom!
As many of you know, Prom took place last Saturday at the Museum of Life and Sciences. It was a MAGICAL night that saw many 1st Hunt guys escort their lovely dates on an unforgettable evening. In most of our cases, our dates outshone us, but there was the occasional exception. Vitchyr Pong, a notoriously good looking individual, had this to say about the evening: "It was awesome! Prom has been one of my favorite memories at NCSSM for two years in a row!"
No comment could be obtained from his date about who looked better.
The after-Prom celebration at NCSSM was tons of fun as well! Honey's, a local breakfast diner that Durhamites frequent often, catered for the event. There was a princess bouncey castle (rock on!), obstacle courses, and a giant slide. The night was truly amazing. Pictures are coming!

IM Basketball Season
Our IM basketball season kicked off on Tuesday with a win over 2nd West, 27-16. We had an unusually low turn-out to the game because of Free Cone Day at Ben and Jerry's and an Ultimate Frisbee game, but the five guys there (Jeshua Ray, Michael Robinson, Otis Skipper, Seth Templeton, and Taylor Firn) took it to 2nd West. We actually started the game with only four players and played that way for 5 minutes until Seth showed up to the rescue. Our zone defense proved to be too much for 2nd West, conceding only 16 points on over 30 shots. Our offense was not much better, but the win can be attributed to cunning and athleticism. Said leading scorer Otis Skipper (12 points), "I mean, we're just more athletic. And smart. We're smart too."
Our next IM game will be the Tuesday after break. We'll keep you posted!

IM Volleyball Championship!
Last week, 1st Hunt made it to the playoffs for volleyball. After a play-in game scenario moved our semifinal game back a day, we realized that we'd have to win two games on the same day to win a championship. No issue for us, however, as we promptly dismantled the two teams put before us, 2nd East and 3rd East. The semifinal match was much closer than the final, as 2nd East played us to a 25-21, 25-20 victory. A 13-2 run in the second game was capped with a rally that saw Michael Robinson dive one-handed to put the ball over the net for the point.
In the finals, our serving was too much to handle for the 3rd East gentlemen, as we cruised comfortably to a 25-16, 25-13 win. Our second IM championship of the year is just as sweet as the first!
