It's crunch time here at NCSSM! All of the guys on hall are preparing extensively for the end of trimester exams that start today. The exam schedule:

Friday:
9-11am: Study Period
1:30-3:30pm: Science electives and some interdisciplinary electives
6-8:00pm: Foreign language
Monday:
9-11am: Chemistry
1:30-3:30pm: Humanities electives, interdisciplinary electives, computer science
6-8:00pm: Physics
Tuesday:
9-11am: American studies, social sciences
1:30-3:30pm: Advanced math and math electives
6-8:00pm: Core english
Wednesday:
9-11am: Biology
1:30-3:30pm: Math

Hall Food!

A big shout out goes to Michael Robinson and his family for providing hall food this Wednesday past! Michael cooked pasta for the entire hall for vegetarian hall food this week. Everybody loved it!

As for tonight--we're prepping for our big hall sleepover tonight after check! We plan on all gathering in the main lounge, making a fort with sheets, and passing the night discussing philosophy, particle physics, and evolutionary theory. Okay, we aren't THAT into the school work :). Our 2nd IVIZ of the year is tonight as well! All the guys are cleaning their rooms in preparation for the festivities. Stay updated!

Breast Cancer Awareness

Hey readers!
1st Hunt and our sister hall, 4th Bryan, are taking a big part in the programs for Breast Cancer Awareness week here on campus! On Sunday we tie-dyed t-shirts, made signs to hang outside of the cafeteria, and made pink ribbons to wear all week. On Monday we handed out the ribbons and today we did a 'Duck Dive' in which every student could come pick out a duck from a small pond outside of the cafeteria. They either won a Breast Cancer Awareness sticker or candy depending on the duck! Tomorrow we're getting amped for the Leah Dula Brown Breast Cancer Awareness walk. We will be looking fly in our freshly tie-dyed pink shirts (hot out of the dryer!). On Thursday we will all be attending the campus wide candlelight vigil to honor both survivors and the deceased who have battled breast cancer. On Friday we have more ribbons that will be given--this time students can write the name of a survivor that they are wearing it in honor for! Stay tuned!

Sister Hall Bonding!

This Sunday past the First Hunt boys spent some quality time bonding with the sister hall. It all started that morning with the gentlemen of First Hunt making a delicious breakfast for the ladies of 4th Bryan. We woke up early, made pancakes in Hunt kitchen and invited our sister hall over to enjoy them. And trust us, they enjoyed them.
Afterwards First Hunt and 4th Bryan teamed up to make pink Tie-dye shirts in honor of breast cancer awareness week. The shirts are drying now, but they are certainly going to turn out wonderfully!

IM Championship Victory!

As the headline suggests, the First Hunt Fire Lions brought home the IM Ultimate Championship today in dominate fashion against the First Hill Freebirds. Going down 3-1 awoke the beast from within the Fire Lions. We raced ahead to a 5-3 lead at halftime on a strategy of short, methodical passing and patient, preventative defense. The second half was no less impressive with the Fire Lions outscoring the Freebirds 5-2 to take the 'ship 10-5!

Ultimate Victory

1st Hunt has done a remarkable job this season in racking up the victories in IM Frisbee. So much so, in fact, that we were the number one seed going into playoffs! We matched up Thursday in the semifinal game against 4th West. After falling behind 3-1 to the speedy 4th Westians we scored 4 unanswered points before halftime. Jeremy DeJournett gave a rousing halftime speech. Out of the gate we scored another four unanswered points, yielded two, and finished 4th West off 11-5. Next play: 1st Hill in the championship. Keep it up First Hunt Fire Lions!

Birthdays!

The hall birthdays sure have been stacking up lately--we've have had 5 this week alone! We would like to wish a VERY happy birthday to Jeshua Ray (Oct. 14), Jeremiah Collins (Oct. 14), Bo Warren (Oct. 15), and Vamsi Yechoor (Oct. 16). Have a wonderful birthday, guys!

First Hunt Relay

This past weekend we had the famous First Hunt Relay. Everyone split up into teams for a relay race that tested skill, speed, athleticism and the ability to eat a donut with no hands. From chugging a soda to doing "the worm" everyone showcased their unique talents. It came down to a close finish, and in the end, Will Milligan, Jin Yoon, Trey Faddis and Dayton Ellwanger walked away with the First Hunt Cup.

Last night we sat down to a gargantuan feast of Subway and Cake in honor of Taylor Firn's birthday! "It was filling," remarked Luke Fernandez. Filling it was, Luke. A big thanks goes out to the Firn's from 1st Hunt!

Taylor's Birthday!

Today we are celebrating Taylor Firn's birthday on hall. Happy birthday, Taylor!

Hall Food!

Aakash and his family lovingly provided pizza and cinnamon sticks last night for hall food! The guys really appreciated the mid-week snack. We also had cake the other night to celebrate Aakash's birthday!

IM Game VICTORY

The First Hunt Fire Lions were victorious again yesterday against 2nd Hill. We trotted out to a 5-3 victory, bringing our record to 3-0 on the season! Our team feels good going into our last regular season game. We hope to round out a dominant season with an IM championship in playoffs next week. Stay tuned for details!
